Venice Diary Day 6: A Day of Quirky Encounters on the Red Carpet

Today on the Lido, security guards were faced with a parade of quirky characters, each adding their own touch of chaos to the glamorous red carpet scene.

First up was a 50-year-old fan who, after spending the night camped out for a glimpse of his favorite stars, decided to take a dip in the sea to escape the sweltering 95-degree heat. Returning to the red carpet area clad only in a thong, he found himself confronted by security who told him his attire wasn’t appropriate. “Do you want me to die of heat?” he protested, clearly committed to his mission.

In a twist of her own, a woman arrived at the Palazzo del Cinema dressed in an elaborate evening gown adorned with rhinestones and pearls, her emerald green eyeshadow and bright blush contrasting with her disheveled hair. Claiming to be Brad Pitt’s wife, she frantically waved around various forms of ID and a marriage certificate, but her fervent efforts were not enough to gain her entry.

Adding to the day’s drama was a seat stealer who had been occupying a prime front-row seat at the Palazzo del Cinema press conference room for nearly a week. He had been brazenly warning others away from the reserved seats, only to be caught off guard when a security guard requested his credentials. Without proper authorization, he was swiftly escorted out.

As the day unfolded, the security team found themselves juggling a mix of oddballs and impostors, all while striving to maintain order amid the glitz and glamour of the red carpet.
