In a strategic move to enhance accessibility and engagement in Latin America, the World Poker Tour (WPT) has partnered with London-based AI dubbing company Papercup. This collaboration aims to revolutionize WPT’s localization efforts in the region by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence.
Under the agreement, Papercup will leverage its advanced AI dubbing tools to translate 184 episodes of WPT tournaments into Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish. This initiative, covering approximately 140 hours of content, will enable viewers across South America to enjoy the latest WPT shows in their native languages with unprecedented speed and efficiency.
Previously, WPT faced significant challenges with lengthy lead times of up to six months for content localization. By embracing Papercup’s cutting-edge technology, these lead times will be halved, allowing WPT to deliver premier poker content to international audiences, including OTT platforms and its FAST channel, more swiftly than ever before.
Papercup’s AI-driven approach combines machine-learning algorithms with expert human translators to ensure maximum linguistic and tonal accuracy. By incorporating data from real voice actors, Papercup’s AI voices possess the warmth and expressivity of human speech, enhancing the viewer experience.
Marc Dion, Director of Distribution & Ad Sales at WPT, praised Papercup’s exceptional dubbing quality, emphasizing the importance of meeting the strict criteria set by major streaming platforms for dubbed content. Jesee Shemen, CEO of Papercup, highlighted the significance of AI tools in localizing content efficiently, enabling sports and entertainment entities like WPT to engage their international fan base effectively.
Papercup’s AI technology has already been embraced by leading organizations such as Fremantle, Bloomberg, Sky News, Fuse Media, and The Jamie Oliver Group for content localization. With a track record of reaching over 1 billion viewers in non-English speaking regions, Papercup’s scalable solution promises to revolutionize content localization in the entertainment industry.
