RM Sotheby’s is preparing to auction a rare 1991 Ferrari F40, known as the “Minty Forty,” which is expected to fetch up to $2.5 million USD. This distinctive supercar stands out with its unique exterior finish, inspired by the renowned Verde Pallido color of the 250 GTO built for Stirling Moss.
Originally delivered in Rosso Corsa to Dieter Wolf in Germany, chassis 88538 has a notable history. Following a significant restoration, including repairs after an accident in 1998, it was repainted in a striking pale green and re-trimmed in blue by its current owner, who acquired the vehicle in 2021.
The Ferrari F40 is celebrated as the last supercar developed during Enzo Ferrari’s lifetime, featuring a 478 hp twin-turbocharged V8 engine and a race-inspired design. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, representing the pinnacle of automotive engineering of its time.
Chassis 88538, now referred to as the “Minty Forty,” retains its original engine and gearbox, confirmed by Ferrari Classiche Certification. Accompanied by a limited-production Amalgam model, this exceptional Ferrari is set to make a splash at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction.
