The much-talked-about entrepreneurial talent turned challenges into opportunities, becoming a prominent player in the economic landscape of South Africa.

It is always surreal to learn about all those founders, top voices, CEOs, high-performing individuals and trailblazers, who instead of following other established names in their industry chose to create their own unique path to success. Even more astonishing is how these individuals forged ahead becoming forces to be reckoned with in their industries in ways more than one. We couldn’t help but notice the rise of one such entrepreneurial talent named Pinagare Mogodi, who turned challenges into billion-rand opportunities and emerged as a business visionary in the economic landscape of South Africa.

Pinagare Mogodi today is a trailblazer, standing tall as a one-of-a-kind CEO, MD and Founder at his unique and highly progressing company called Matsapa-A-Botshelo (MAB) Group. He recalls how just as any other successful entrepreneur, he too had a rough start, where he faced innumerable challenges and struggles. From humble beginnings, he carved his desired success path in the world of business by establishing MAB Group, which has risen as a proactive South African registered and based company, offering coal mining extraction services, construction, trucking services, and technology to the coal mining industry.

The passionate founder felt the need to provide more employment opportunities in the country. Hence, he started MAB as BWO close corporation in 2010 as a construction company. Later in 2016, he added to its portfolio mining, and trucking department.  Pinagare Mogodi recalls how especially during the pandemic they almost reached a stage of closing down with rising financial difficulties. However, with resilience, passion and determination they turned into a billion-worth company with a monthly revenue of R157 million.

Growing up in challenging circumstances, he took inspiration from his uncle, a businessman who instilled in him principles of hard work and entrepreneurship. Even during critical times of the Covid-19 pandemic with delayed projects, and financial strain, through strategic restructuring and securing new contracts, he turned challenges into opportunities for the company. The founder and CEO at MAB loves how his business provides employment every day and every month. One of his greatest passions is creating jobs. Speaking on the same, Mogodi highlights, “I love how my work directly impacts livelihoods, creating great employment opportunities that uplift families and communities.”

One of the major factors that have helped Pinagare Mogodi stand apart is his leadership style. He emphasizes empathy and collaboration, fostering a culture where employees and clients feel valued. He points out how at MAB Group their vision is to be a pioneering force in mining, construction, logistics, and real estate—creating sustainable value for stakeholders, while driving economic growth in South Africa and beyond.

As a team at MAB, they strive to lead with integrity, innovation and excellence, building a legacy of empowerment through job creation, community upliftment, and responsible business practices. They envision a future where they stand as a symbol of trust, collaboration and transformational impact across the industries they serve. By expanding the company’s presence globally, Mogodi aims to not only create greater employment opportunities, but also inspire a new generation of leaders to achieve greatness, while uplifting those around them.

Putting more light on MAB’s ambitious goals, Pinagare Mogodi says they are working on expanding mining operations, investing in solar and wind energy projects, tackling the housing shortage through innovative construction techniques and empowering communities through training programs and workforce development.

Pinagare Mogodi’s story serves as a testament to the power of vision and resilience. His legacy of empowerment and innovation will continue to inspire the next-gen for years to come.
