The NFL, Roc Nation, and Apple Music have officially announced that Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. The much-anticipated event is scheduled to take place on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, with the performance airing live on Fox.
This will mark Lamar’s second appearance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. He previously graced the stage during the 2022 event, where he performed alongside hip-hop legends Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent. That performance was widely acclaimed and earned the performers, including executive producers Jay-Z and Jesse Collins, the Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Variety Special.
The upcoming show will once again see creative direction provided by pgLang, the innovative company co-founded by Lamar and his close collaborator Dave Free. pgLang has been pivotal in shaping Lamar’s artistic vision and will continue to bring their unique creative flair to this high-profile performance.
In a statement, Kendrick Lamar, 37, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming show. “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” he said.
Jay-Z and his Roc Nation company, who have been instrumental in producing the Super Bowl Halftime Show for the past six years, are thrilled to work with Lamar. Jay-Z, who won his second Emmy for co-directing Rihanna’s 2023 Halftime Show, praised Lamar as “a once-in-a-generation artist and performer” whose influence extends far beyond music. “Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come,” Jay-Z noted.
Lamar’s career has been marked by both critical and commercial success. Since the release of his 2011 mixtape Section.80 and his major-label debut good kid, m.A.A.d city in 2012, Lamar has won 17 Grammy Awards. His 2017 album DAMN. made history by winning the Pulitzer Prize for Music, making him the first non-classical or jazz artist to receive the prestigious honor. Additionally, Lamar earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for “All the Stars” from the film Black Panther.
This year, Lamar made waves on the Billboard charts with his anthems “Not Like Us” and “Like That,” featuring Future and Metro Boomin.
Seth Dudowsky, NFL’s Head of Music, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar. We’re excited to collaborate with Kendrick, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable Halftime Show.”
Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Sports, and Beats, added, “The Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show is a celebration of the music we love and the incredible artists who make it. Apple is thrilled to bring this show, starring the absolutely incomparable Kendrick Lamar, to fans worldwide with industry-leading Spatial Audio quality, exclusive videos, interviews, playlists, and much more across Apple Music.”
The Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show will be produced by DPS, with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins serving as executive producers and Hamish Hamilton as director. Roc Nation will also act as the strategic entertainment advisor for the performance.
With Kendrick Lamar set to headline, fans can expect an electrifying and memorable show that continues the tradition of the Super Bowl Halftime Show’s dynamic and impactful performances.
