Meta is looking for proposals to develop nuclear power projects that could add between 1 to 4 gigawatts (GW) of electricity generating capacity. This initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to ensure a reliable and sustainable energy supply for its data centers and operations, as part of its long-term sustainability goals.

In a request for proposals (RFP), Meta outlined its interest in exploring nuclear energy as a clean, low-carbon source of power to support its growing energy needs. The company is particularly focused on projects that could deliver reliable, scalable, and innovative energy solutions to help meet its target of operating fully on renewable energy.

Meta’s move reflects a growing interest in advanced nuclear technologies as a potential solution to address the increasing energy demands of tech companies, while also aligning with the push for greener energy sources. As the world faces challenges in transitioning to renewable energy, nuclear power has become a key area of interest for some corporations seeking to diversify their energy mix and reduce their carbon footprint.

Meta’s efforts are part of a broader trend of large companies and industries exploring alternative, low-carbon energy sources to achieve sustainability targets and address climate change concerns. The company’s ambitious goals come amid growing calls for innovative approaches to meeting global energy demands sustainably.
