Recently, had opportunity to visit Bang & Olufsen’s facility in Struer, where they witnessed the intricate process involved in creating this extraordinary speaker using aluminum, a metal often associated with disposable products. Unlike its competitors, Bang & Olufsen chose to experiment with aluminum back in 1955, and to this day, their Factory 5 continues to transform raw aluminum into highly sought-after audio devices. The skilled artisans not only craft audio products for Bang & Olufsen customers but also collaborate with other companies to handcraft speaker parts for prestigious brands like Audi, Bentley, and Mercedes.
The Beosound A5 Spaced Aluminium showcases a grille made up of over 3,500 anodized aluminum discs, resulting in a unique two-tone appearance. This speaker, available in two options at launch, delivers a 360-degree immersive sound experience thanks to its four custom-designed onboard drivers. Each driver, including the full-range 50mm drivers, the 20mm tweeter, and the powerful 130mm bass driver, is individually amplified, ensuring a precise and consistent sound profile.
With a software update available for the launch models, the Beosound A5 Spaced Aluminium introduces new functionalities. Automatic Stereo Pairing allows users with two A5 speakers to effortlessly pair them for a stereo sound setup. Additionally, the Fluid Sweet Spot feature, available when two A5s are connected in stereo, enables the speakers to adapt their sound output based on the listener’s position in the room, enhancing the overall listening experience.
In terms of connectivity, the Beosound A5 offers a comprehensive range of options, including Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6, and native support for popular streaming services like Apple’s AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify, and Tidal in high resolution. It can be powered via USB-C or used wirelessly with its built-in battery, providing up to 12 hours of playback. The speaker also features a convenient Qi wireless charging pad on top.
