In the season two finale of his New Heights podcast, Kelce disclosed that he was the initiator behind the idea to join Swift on stage. Reflecting on the surreal experience, he recounted, “I initially brought it up to Tay, saying, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I rolled out on one of the bikes during the 1989 era?’”
Initially amused by the suggestion, Swift entertained the idea and asked him, “Would you seriously be up for doing something like that?” Kelce eagerly responded affirmatively, setting the stage for his surprise cameo.
Having attended Swift’s performances previously, Kelce joked, “I’ve seen the show enough. Might as well put me to work here.” Eventually, a fitting moment was identified during the Tortured Poets Department segment, where Kelce joined the dancers to help rejuvenate Swift for her rendition of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”
Dressed in a tuxedo and top hat, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end not only assisted Swift with an outfit change but also playfully interacted with her onstage, including a lighthearted moment of powdering her face and offering encouragement before her performance.
Reflecting on the experience, Kelce humorously remarked on the precautionary absence of a bike during his performance to avoid any mishaps with fellow dancers, ensuring a safe and enjoyable contribution to the show.
Kelce expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate, emphasizing the joy of engaging with Swift and the audience. “It was the perfect time for me to go up there and have some fun, not only with her but with the crowd, getting everyone excited for the rest of the show,” he shared.
