Interviewer: Today we have an exclusive insight into the upcoming movie musical “Wonka” from none other than the lead actor himself, Timothée Chalamet. Timothée, thank you for joining us. Can you tell us about your initial thoughts when you were approached for the role of Willy Wonka?

Timothée Chalamet: Thank you for having me. Initially, I was a bit skeptical, like many people are with remakes. I was concerned that “Wonka” might be a “cynical money grab” amid the recent trend of Hollywood reboots. I felt protective over the original character and versions I love, and I think many fans can relate to that sentiment.

Interviewer: So, what changed your mind about the project?

Timothée Chalamet: Well, once I read the first three pages of the script, I knew that this movie was something special on its own. The opening musical number, “Hat Full of Dreams,” really stood out to me. It portrayed a young Willy Wonka who was hopeful, ambitious, and not the jaded version we’ve seen before. I found the approach very clever and refreshing.

Interviewer: It sounds like the script made a significant impression on you. Can you share more about your experience with the character and the movie’s director, Paul King?

Timothée Chalamet: Absolutely. Paul King didn’t require me to audition for the role because he believed I was the right fit for Willy Wonka. It was a huge vote of confidence, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. I wasn’t necessarily seeking an all-singing, all-dancing role at the time, but I have a deep appreciation for musical theater and classic films. Working with Paul King has been an incredible experience, and his vision for the movie is something I couldn’t say no to.

Interviewer: Thank you for giving us a glimpse into your journey with “Wonka.” It’s clear that this project holds a special place in your heart, and we can’t wait to see your portrayal of the iconic chocolatier on the big screen.

Timothée Chalamet: Thank you. I’m excited for audiences to experience this new take on Willy Wonka, and I hope they find it as captivating as I did when I first read the script.
