James Gunn has reportedly chosen Nicholas Hoult to portray Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman: Legacy. Hoult will star alongside David Corenswet as Clark Kent and Rachel Bronahan as Lois Lane.
Gunn, the co-chief of DC Studios and the writer and director for the film, has selected Hoult for the pivotal role of Luthor, a bald-headed titan fixated on bringing down Superman. Additionally, María Gabriela de Faría has been confirmed by Gunn to play another villain, the Engineer. The cast also includes Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
Superman: Legacy is poised to be DC Studio’s inaugural feature film, marking the relaunch of the DC universe in film and TV. Hoult, known for his role in Clint Eastwood’s upcoming legal thriller Juror #2, will also lend his voice to the character Jon in the animated film Garfield.
