Blunt has since issued a statement to People magazine, expressing her deep regret over her choice of words. She acknowledged that she was old enough to know better and apologized for any hurt caused by her insensitive and unrelated comment. Blunt emphasized that she has always considered herself someone who would never intentionally upset anyone and that her remark was uncharacteristic of her values.
In the resurfaced video, Blunt was discussing her dining experience at a Chili’s restaurant during the filming of Looper. Host Jonathan Ross made a comment about the portion sizes at Chili’s, to which Blunt responded by mentioning the size of the server who attended to her. Blunt also mentioned that the server recognized her during her visit.
